May 14,  · Welcome to the Canteen shows the work in progress tour, that would later record "Low Spark" and "Shoot Out" albums. But unlike the lame subsequent tours for those albums as evidenced by the sleep and snore induced "On the Road" concerts(whether or not you have the original or expanded versions), this is truly the best of thier live efforts/5(73). Welcome to the Canteen's status as only a semi-legitimate offering was emphasized by the release, after a mere two months, of a new Traffic studio album on Island (The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys) that undercut its sales. But that doesn't make it any less appealing as a summing up of the Winwood/Mason/Traffic musical world.8/ Reply

Aug 18,  · I would say Welcome to the Canteen is essential if your a Traffic fan. (I have the Pink Island vinyl so I can't comment on best CD version) I would go with On The Road first before Last Exit. I love the live versions of Glad / Freedom Rider and Low Spark from On The Road. Reply
